Vine budburst season
Bud burst, also known as the “awakening of the sleeping beauty,” launches the start of a new vintage.
But what is it exactly?
At the beginning of spring, generally mid-March, beginning of April, the vines, after a phase of well-deserved winter rest, wake up. We are therefore entering the period of the vegetative cycle, during which the vine grows, develops its foliage and above all produces grapes !
Bud burst is the first step in this cycle. The roots will begin to absorb water and nutrients from the soil again, the sap will circulate again, and finally the vine stocks will bud, in order to reveal their fluff (the little fluffy down that protected them during the winter) which later become the leaves of the vine.
Thanks to the rise in temperatures and a good dose of daily light, the time to wake up has arrived for our vines !
