SPACE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART
Sabine Dauré, Bernard's wife, was passionate about contemporary art, considering that there was an obvious relationship between art and wine. It is with this conviction that she created a space for contemporary art in the mid-1970s. The premises that used to house the old silkworm farm was rehabilitated and are now the exhibition rooms. Sabine persuaded renowned artists such as Tapies, Arman, César, Debre, Combas, and Ben to exhibit their work at Jau. The tradition was launched: since then, every summer from June to September, we organize a large exhibition. Our annual opening, every last Friday of June, is always a great celebration that marks the beginning of summer.
In addition to the exhibitions, Sabine Dauré has taken the initiative to welcome young artists to Jau by creating workshops to encourage their work.
The labels of some of our wines, like the Jaja de Jau created by Ben, testify to the close link between Château de Jau and painting.
