Our Jaujau 1er wines have been awarded by the prestigious independent wine guide Gilbert & Gaillard, published in France but with an international projection.
Indeed, Gilbert & Gaillard is an essential reference for professionals and wine lovers around the world. In addition, their vocation is to promote and prescribe quality wines, representative of a terroir and the know-how of passionate men and women.
Here are the comments we got during the jury tasting :
- For the Jaujau 1er Blanc : “Light gold colour, sparkling green reflections. Vanilla, smoky, delicate nose, notes of resin, dried fruit, pear and cut hay. Expressive, enveloping palate, brilliantly combining, silky ageing, flavors already salivating. Epicurean cuvée.”
- For the Jaujau 1er rouge : “Concentrated colour, garnet reflections. Grilled vanilla nose, opening only to stone fruits, liquorice, spices, truffles. Fleshy and ripe mouth, with school aromas and fine notes of aging . Controlled power, polished tannins, wine in great shape.”
The vinification of Jaujau 1er red wine is made by manual harvesting at just maturity, Grenache vinified in the traditional way and Syrah by manual punching down, aging in barrels for 12 months. Yields are low. So, this results in an exceptional concentration of grape berries.
With regard to the vinification of Jaujau 1er white wine, the harvest is manual in the early hours of the day and pressed quickly. Indeed, the first juices are vinified in barrels with regular stirring of the lees.
