The Dauré family has always maintained a strong link with Art. We are fortunate this year to host the works of the contemporary painter Vincent Corpet at the Chateau de Jau.
Vincent Corpet was twenty years old, in March 1978, when he “decided to become an artist”. He concretized this decision by entering the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1979. In a hurry, he obtained his higher diploma in plastic arts and left school after only two years of study, in 1981.
Corpet’s approach essentially aims to activate the representative power of painting, to multiply and complicate the representation, in order to place it beyond any resemblance. His approach to painting consists in manifesting what we do not know how to see, which only painting can make visible by producing an absolute gap, by constituting a space which resists all understanding, shakes our certainties, a space which reaches this strange region where nothing more can be said.
Our art gallery is open all summer. The exhibition is free and open to all. It is opposite our restaurant at Château de JAU in Cases de Pène.
